Love in the City (Part 2)

SCENARIO 2 - the 7-year itch:
fren who's been in a relationship with husband for 7 yrs tells me she's facing the "7-yr itch". they've ROMed for about 2-3 yrs now and r still waiting for the flat to b ready. so they're staying apart and yet married in name. she says she regrets abit about "settling down" so young - now she sees that there r nice guys out there. according to her, gals give their all when they marry, the guy will give all his "patterns" - untidiness, unthoughtfulness, starts to take everything for granted once they r married.

MY TAKE:
not that her hubby is lousy, but it's human nature to "gian" the grass on the other side isnt it? i'm sure we've all heard enough about people having doubts after marriage. to me, my one reommendation is "marriage prep class"

singapore is a lousy place to get married, we've got all the sequence messed up. the correct sequence shd b proposal -> set wedding date -> prepare for wedding n house -> get married n move in together. but i'm sure all of us know some couples who set wedding dates before the guy proposes, what's up with that? as my bobo says - "the sale's already been closed, stil propose for wat?" (spoken like a true blue salesperson wahahahha).

so what IS rom? a piece of paper recognised by singapore govt to make things easier for couples to get a house. what about the vows that were made when a couple ROMed? do a couple who r registered but r not living together feel like a married couple? i seriously doubt so... i have serious doubts about how conducive singaporean policies r for marriage n family-starting.

I, for one, am a firm believer that a groom shd not see the bride in her wedding dress until the wedding day itself. for goodness sake, if we're gng to shock the man with the "real" monster he's married, we might as well start with a NICE surprise at how beautiful that monster looks in her wedding dress.
